Saint Vincent de Paul

Consider Volunteering or Donating!

Clothing and Furniture Drive: March Spring Cleaning can make you feel like a load has been lifted and you feel a little lighter! You can assist SVdP by donating your used furniture, household items and gently used clean clothing during the two-day Furniture Drive in March. The SVdP truck and volunteers will be in the Church's north parking lot to receive your donated items. (Tube TV's are not accepted)

Summer Water Drive: July and August
Although in the past, we accepted donations of cases of water, we have found that our purchasing power goes farther. Therefore, we have shifted to requesting donations (cash, checks, or electronically) to maximize your donations! We buy the bottled water and deliver to the homeless throughout the Valley.

Coats – Sweaters – Blankets: Month of October
Clear out your closets during your October fall cleaning and bring gently worn coats, sweaters, or blankets to donate for the homeless. Bins are available in the courtyard.

Fall Food Drive
The holidays can be scarce for some of our neighbors in need. After Masses in mid-November, SVdP volunteers will be distributing grocery bags with a list of needed items for donations. Monetary gifts are welcomed as well. An info sheet will also be on the bag or you can give directly to the St. Vincent DePaul boxes in the vestibule of the church! Watch the bulletin in the fall for exact dates.

Turkey Tuesday: November (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving)
In pre-pandemic times, we encouraged our parishioners to go to Basha’s at Warner Rd and 48th Street – buy a turkey – and give it to our volunteers! Until we are able to invite our parishioners to do this again, we encourage donations to our St. Vincent de Paul Conference so that we can still purchase turkeys for our needy neighbors.

Giving Tree Program: Giving Tree Program: Late November to mid-December
Watch for the Christmas trees to be set up in the vestibule of the church – claim a tag and buy the gift. Return the wrapped gifts to the trees when you come to Mass! We handle organizing and delivering to the families who would otherwise not receive any gifts due to hardship.

Trained Home Visitors
Take phone messages and visit families at their homes to determine needed assistance.
Time Commitment: 1 day per week

Watkins Center Food Sort
(Due to COVID-19, we have suspended this activity - stay tuned for when we begin again!)
Sort food at the Saint Vincent de Paul warehouse on the 1st and/or 3rd Saturday of the month.
Time Commitment: 3.5 hours

St. Vincent de Paul is one of the oldest and most respected charities in Arizona, qualifying your gift for a dollar-for-dollar income tax credit up to $421 (for singles) and up to $821 (for married couples). This credit is in addition to the school tax credit, so you can do both!

In addition to the benefit of the tax credit, your gifts go to:

  • Create food boxes to give someone a boost during a difficult time;
  • Provide ministry to the homeless;
  • Provide medical care and a helping hand for the working poor.

What is the Tax Credit for Qualifying Charitable Organizations?

  • Available only for donations to qualified charities that provide services to working-poor families
  • This tax credit is formerly known as the Working-Poor Tax Credit
  • Amounts lower than $421/$841 also qualify, so a $100 gift qualifies you for a $100 tax credit on your state taxes, lowering your final amount owed.

Contributions can be made up to April 15.

  • Maximum contributions are $421 for filing single, or $821 for filing jointly. Lower amounts also qualify.
  • Uses Tax Credit Form 321.
  • Make your check payable to St. Vincent de Paul, Corpus Christi Conference and note: “for tax year:” and note the previous year in the memo section of your check. You will receive a receipt, if you supply a mailing address.
  • For tax filing purposes, use: St. Vincent de Paul, 3550 E. Knox Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044.
  • Arizona Tax Code for cash donations to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (QCO code) is: 20540 St. Vincent de Paul Society Diocese of Phoenix.

Information cards and envelopes can be found in the vestibule next to the doors.

IMPORTANT TAX NOTICE: No goods or services were promised or provided by the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in return for this gift. Your gift is tax-deductible as allowed by law. Your gift may qualify for the Arizona Tax Credit for contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (QCO).

This is in addition to School Tax Credits. Please consult your tax advisor if you have any questions. Tax ID 86-0096789. Arizona QCO 20540.

Is this the same as the Working-Poor Tax Credit?
Credit for Contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations was formerly known as the Working Poor Tax Credit. Thanks to the passage of SB 1216 on May 6, 2016, donors may now take up to $421`in tax credit and couples filing jointly may take up to $841 in tax credit for gifts made to St. Vincent de Paul.

Can I take this credit in addition to other credits such as credit for donations to schools and foster care agencies?
Yes. Each tax credit is separate, so you can take the Charitable Tax Credit in addition to tax credits for schools and foster care agencies. See Form 301 on the Arizona Department of Revenue's website for other credits you may be able to take.

Do I have to donate $421 or $841 at once?
You do not have to donate the whole amount at once. Donations given throughout the year, up to a $421 and $841 total limits, qualify for the tax credit.

Do I need a special form from St. Vincent de Paul to take the Tax Credit?
You simply need a receipt from St. Vincent de Paul, which every donor receives in the mail after making a monetary gift. The form you need to file for the tax credit is Arizona Form 321, which is available on the Arizona Department of Revenue's website and is included with many of the available self-filing tax programs like Turbo Tax.

Can I take the Tax Credit by donating food, clothing or other tangible items?
No. The Tax Credit only applies to voluntary cash donations.

What is St. Vincent de Paul's tax ID?
Tax ID 86-0096789. Arizona QCO 20540.   When writing a check to SVdP, Corpus Christi Conference, please add Arizona Tax Credit 2019, in the memo section of your check.
